"Gemma you were an absolute magician on my wedding day, I just had to write and thank you so much for all your hard work on my very special day. My Hair and makeup was exactly as I imaged and lasted all day. I loved my eye makeup and my lashers looked so natural! "Wish I could look like that every day" I don't know what I would have done with out you, you were so relaxed and charming and put my nerves at ease, at least for a couple of hours anyway. Big Thank you. Lots of love, Becks x "

Questions.

I need some ideas on Hair Styles?

Start by taking a look at online hair galleries for some ideas (search google images for 'hair'), then start collecting some pictures from magazines and off the internet. Be realistic - is your hair straight / thick / long enough for the style you like?

Should I wear my hair up or down?
Try to choose a style that will suit your face shape - round faces suit high "up do's" and sleek long styles while long faces suit styles that have width and volume. Would you be comfortable with all your hair pulled away from your face? Consider having some hair up and some down, or leaving wispy bits around you face to soften. If you have a low-cut or off-the-shoulder dress will you feel comfortable with a little flesh exposed?

Should I have my hair Curly or straight?

Once you have decided to wear your hair up or down, the possibilities are endless. Curls are soft and romantic, as are pleats, twists, plaits and variations to the bun. Or perhaps you prefer more contemporary spikes and twists. Try to reflect your personality in your bridal hairdo.

Where do I put my Tiara's or Veils?
These should compliment your hairstyle but not hide it. If you have chosen a large floor-length veil, your hairstyle needs to be sturdy enough to hold its shape until you take the veil off. Some veils look better sat at the back of the head under a mass of curls or a bun. As a rule, the hair shouldn't be worn longer than the veil.

Can I wear beads, jewels and flowers in my hair?
These are always popular as they add extra sparkle and colour and can tie in with your colour scheme and jewellery. Pins and hair-grips with sparkling gems in the ends have a stunning effect, whilst small flowers can be scattered amongst curls.

What kind of look should I be going for with my makeup?
Your make up should be an enhancement of what you normally wear. For example, if you usually go for the natural look, stick to natural colours but slightly stronger. Remember your fiancé is marrying you, so he should at least recognize you! Saying that you should define your features stronger than what you usually do, so they show up in photographs. You should feel comfortable in the make-up you are wearing, this is not the time to try out anything drastic. On your day you don't want to be worrying about your shade of lippy whilst saying your vows.

Will my makeup last if I cry?
You my shed a tear on your Big day as it’s a very emotional time, so waterproof mascara is a must!

Will my Makeup last all day?
You want your make up to last all day. There are some fabulous long lasting make up items around, which will ensure that you don't need to “touch up” during the day. You may want to touch up the lip gloss during the day.

I want my skin to have a healthy glow?

Whilst there are some lovely “shine” products available to give a dewy complexion, again be very careful where you use them. In photographs it will be easy to mistake the “glow” for sweat which isn’t a good look. If you are applying a highlighter, stick to brow bones, cheekbones and a dab in the middle of your lips. If you are wearing a low cut dress add a little on your dĂ©colletage. Beware of any makeup that is too sparkly, this can look strange in the photos.

How do I make my lipstick last as long as possible?
First I will apply a lip primer to give your lips an even surface and rid of any flaky bits. I always apply concealer to the lips and let it dry – this gives a good base, then line your lips with your lip pencil before filling in all your lips with the pencil. Finally on top of that apply your lipstick. Blot with a tissue and reapply your lipstick – repeat this twice. Now your lipstick should stay on all day.

Is there special eye shadow techniques to enhance my eye shape?
To lift your eyes I will apply a highlighter just below your brow bone. If you have small eyelids, I will apply a highlighter just in the center of the eyelid and a dark brown shade in the eyelid crease – this will lift your eyes. To make your eyes look wider I will blend the highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes.

Are your products allergy tested?
All the products I use are tested to determine the potential to cause an allergic response. These products are also tested for irritancy.
Irritancy to a product is becoming more of a concern because the general population is more likely to develop an irritation to a product than an allergic reaction. In your trial we will carry out tests on all the products you wish to use to make sure you are not exposed to any irritations or unknown allergies.

Do you use professional makeup?
When training I worked for top makeup house Mac, my kit is full of Mac and other professional brands including a large variety of professional synthetic and natural hair make-up brushes which are cleaned after each client. I uphold strict hygiene practices and use disposable applicators where necessary.

When should I have a trial?
You can have your trial as soon as you have decided on your dress, colour scheme and other details that are important to you about your wedding. Having your trial as soon as you have decided to have a make-up artist ensures that you are happy with your booking and means it's another thing ticked off your list. However, if you would prefer to do so, you can have your trial nearer to your wedding but I would recommend leaving it no later than 6 weeks before.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. I am fully insured with Professional Beauty Direct.
